District 5
With traffic densities increasing yearly and public safety as a primary concern, the Florida Department of Transportation’s District 5 allocated $217 million dollars for construction costs and nearly $10 million dollars for design along this heavily traveled corridor of SR 528. These improvements showcase a new Westbound and Eastbound Lane as well as a dedicated multi-use trail along the North right-of-way of SR 528 between SR 3 and the SR 401 interchange.
However, before the design can proceed with any transportation project, accurate representation of existing conditions must be collected for the design engineer to begin work. Assisting TLP Engineering Consultants, Inc. in their design of this corridor, SSMC provided right-of-way mapping, horizontal and vertical control, alignment, setting aerial targets for aerial photogrammetry, roadway cross-sections, existing drainage, bridge surveys, surveys of existing retention ponds, work zone safety, and geotechnical boring location for this five-mile project. All efforts were performed per Florida Statutes (F.S.) Section 472.027, Standards of Practice for Land Surveying and Mapping Services.
