Our Subsurface Utility Engineering SUE Division complies with all Washington County and Florida Highway Administration (FHWA) regulations. It relies on the most current electronic sensing devices, collection software, and ground penetrating radar (GPR) units in order to provide a deliverable that exceeds expectations. GPR units allow us to detect the location of certain underground facilities to provide information in the design and construction phase of a project to avoid damage to the utility.

Utility Locating & Engineering
Subsurface Utility Engineering, or SUE, is a form of engineering dedicated to accurately locating and engineering underground utilities. At SSMC, we utilize the most current, state-of-the-art technology, devices, and software to guarantee the data received and delivered is of the highest quality levels. Our vacuum excavation team possesses decades of expertise and can provide precise excavations in any location due to our outfitted rigs’ compact nature. We also perform hydrographic surveys, which allow us to collect data such as the depth and configuration of certain bodies of water.
We strive to offer our clients the most efficient, cost-effective SUE services using current electronic sensing devices, GTAC collection software, GPR, and records research, performing highly mobile, non-destructive vacuum excavation (test holes) equipment to positively identify underground facilities. Our goal is to provide the most comprehensive land surveying and mapping services in Central Florida. Utility Location
We save our clients time and money by accurately representing and locating underground facilities and providing the most reliable vantage point of underground infrastructure. Our teams are also thoroughly trained and certified in Temporary Traffic Control.
Vacuum Excavation
Vacuum excavations typically involve exposing specific subsurface utilities -using specialized equipment- in conflict areas with designed new utilities or during construction to avoid damage.
VVH Investigations
Our expert Subsurface Utility Engineering Division is able to identify and investigate Verified Vertical Elevation and Horizontal Locations (VVH) to allow the most efficient mobilizations and timelines in our industry.
Imaging & Mapping
We employ varying imaging and mapping methods and tools depending on the quality levels necessary for a project’s data. Our services include concrete imaging and mapping, grave location, cemetery mapping, and continuity testing, among others.
